Charlotte just broke an all-time record for the hottest February 4th in recorded history.
Yesterday afternoon, the temperature officially reached 80 degrees at Charlotte Douglas Airport, beating the nearly 100 year record of 76 degrees, set on February 4th, 1927.
According to the National Weather Service, the typical Feb. 4th averages 54 degrees.
The all-time February record of 82 degrees still stands, having been tied on Feb. 27, 2011, and again on Feb. 16, 2018.
The crazy high temps won’t last though – highs today will only reach into the mid-50s – but then we’ll be back up the 70s tomorrow and Friday.
