A large protest is set to take place in Charlotte on Saturday, June 14, as part of a nationwide day of action organized by progressive advocacy groups.
Indivisible Charlotte will lead the local ‘No Kings‘ demonstration in Charlotte, joined by organizations including the Charlotte Women’s March, the Carolina Migrant Network, TLC in CLT, and the American Federation of Teachers.
The protest coincides with Flag Day and President Donald Trump’s birthday, which organizers say was a deliberate choice. They describe the event as a peaceful response to what they see as federal overreach and rising authoritarianism, including recent actions by Trump and his supporters. Nationally, more than 1,600 demonstrations are planned, with thousands expected to gather in Charlotte alone.
In South Carolina, Attorney General Alan Wilson issued a public warning, accusing unnamed groups of promoting anti-American rhetoric and urging law enforcement to prepare for possible disruptions.
Law enforcement agencies across the Carolinas plan to increase patrols throughout the weekend.
