  • Financial results and charges for 205 airports and 24 airport groups of various sizes and ownership forms in Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America.

ATRS is an academic research group in the air transportation sector, providing regular insights into the efficiency and competitiveness of airports globally.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport has a rich history dating back to 1935. Named after former Charlotte Mayor Ben Elbert Douglas Sr., the airport initially served as a hub for Eastern Air Lines. Over the years, it grew to become one of the major transportation centers in the southeastern United States.

In the early 1980s, the airport further expanded its reach by becoming a hub for Piedmont Airlines and later US Airways, setting the stage for growth in both domestic and international routes. This led to a series of expansions and renovations that have equipped the airport with modern facilities, providing enhanced services to travelers.

As of 2023, Charlotte Douglas International Airport is ranked as the 5th busiest airport in the world.
