Charlotte-based Atrium Health has made a major land purchase in the Rock Hill region, adding momentum to its planned Fort Mill hospital project.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority paid $5 million for more than 10 acres at Interstate 77 and Sutton Road, expanding its holdings near the Masons Bend area.

The purchase follows plans for a $450 million hospital in Fort Mill, expected to include 60 beds, a 200,000-square-foot facility, and a medical office building, with a target opening in 2029. Atrium has not confirmed the exact site, but the Sutton Road property is one of its largest in the area.

The deal ranked among the biggest property sales in York and Lancaster counties in March, during a period of strong real estate activity.

Other major transactions included a $10 million hotel sale near Carowinds and multi-million-dollar deals for apartments, commercial sites, and residential land.

The surge in high-value sales highlights continued growth across the Rock Hill and Fort Mill corridor, while Atrium’s expansion signals increasing investment in healthcare infrastructure near the Charlotte region.
