Amtrak has just announced plans to add new passenger rail service connecting North Carolina to Chicago starting November 10th.
North Carolina’s investment in passenger rail has been steadily increasing, with ridership on the Raleigh-to-Charlotte service growing by 20% in the first half of 2024 compared to the previous year.
Amtrak’s new Floridian line is expected to add to the rising demand of commuter rail across the Tar Heel state and beyond.
This expansion highlights North Carolina’s efforts to grow its rail infrastructure – including Charlotte’s recent purchase of the Red Line tracks from Norfolk Southern.
