A Storm Is Brewing That Could Bring Charlotte More Snow Next Week

Forecasters are monitoring the potential development of a winter storm that could impact the Southeast next week. Long-range computer models, including GFS, EURO, and C, indicate the formation of low-pressure systems near the Gulf of Mexico. The exact development and track of this low-pressure system will determine whether the Carolinas see any snow or just remain cold and dry.

By the middle of next week, South Carolina will face much colder weather, with highs only reaching the 30s and morning lows near the teens. Breezy conditions are expected, adding an extra layer of wind chill to the already cold air. A winter storm is projected to develop near Texas on Tuesday and could track toward the southeastern United States.

If this system’s moisture aligns with sub-freezing temperatures, Charlotte could see substantial snowfall Thursday night into Friday morning.

Due to the inherent limitations of long-range weather models, specifics regarding precipitation type, timing, location, and totals will not be available until one to three days before the storm begins.
