As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage on and CMS started their school year with virtual learning, many students are now struggling to attend with limited or no access to the internet.
It’s now estimated that 1 in 5 households in Charlotte do not have reliable access to the internet.
The Charlotte nonprofit group E2D (“Eliminate the Digital Divide”) is now working overtime to provided laptops and tablets to students who don’t have them and to help families get connected with free or discounted internet access (please consider donating your old laptop to them).
The Belk and Cannon Foundations in partnership with David Tepper have also recently funded over 6,000 free wifi hotspots around Charlotte (click here if you need help getting connected).
The city of Charlotte is also providing free internet access at the following locations:
