24 Foundation’s 2nd Annual Dam to Dam standup paddleboarding event made waves on Friday, June 20, raising a record-breaking $100,000 to date for local cancer programs and services.

“Congratulations to all the paddlers on doing an amazing job on the water and making a meaningful impact for those affected by cancer,” said Spencer Lueders, founder of 24 Foundation and creator of Dam to Dam. “This epic day transcended individual accomplishments, symbolizing resilience, hope, and solidarity within our cancer community.”

The one-of-a-kind endurance event featured 43 participants who paddled 24 miles along the Catawba River—from the Mountain Island Lake Dam to the Lake Wylie Dam. The 10-hour journey was filled with camaraderie, challenges, and meaningful moments as paddlers, whether solo or in pairs, took on the water in honor of those impacted by cancer.

The fully supported event included stocked safety boats, rest stops, a catered lunch, transportation to the start line, and a celebratory post-paddle gathering. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department also provided on-water support to ensure safety throughout the day.

“We are incredibly grateful to our participants, sponsors, volunteers, donors, and other supporters for making our second year of Dam to Dam a huge success,” said Katherine Murphy, executive director of 24 Foundation. “It was an incredible and inspiring day of fitness, determination and fun in support of our cancer community.”

The Goat Boater guided this year’s event and also provided participants with paddleboards, paddles and life jackets. Sponsors included King Canary Brewing and Queen City News.

With the growing demand for cancer support services, 24 Foundation continues to expand its mission through signature events – including 24 Hours of Booty, Michelle’s Mighty Mission 24,000 Meter RowBourbon for Booty, and Dam to Dam – bringing the community together year-round to change the course of cancer.
