If you’re not one of those people who don’t like fake Christmas trees, or pre-cut trees, there is still have a huge selection of cut-your-own trees all around the Charlotte region.
Load up the kids, pack some saws, and take a trip to one of these southern farms;
Vale, NC – Helms Christmas Tree Farm
This is one of the closest farms to Charlotte, located just north of Gastonia at 6345 Christmas Tree Lane, Vale, North Carolina. They offer Leyland, Carolina Sapphire, Red Cedar ,White Pine varieties for customers to cut themselves, and they also bring in pre-cut Fraser firs from the mountains. Choose-and-cut trees are $30-$35, Fraser firs $40-$60. They’re open Monday-Friday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Iron Station, NC – Cedar Lake Tree Farm
This working farm is located half-way between Stanley and Lincolnton at 5829 East Hwy 27, Iron Station, NC. They offer choose & cut Virginia Pine trees up to 8′ tall and mountain-grown Fraser Fir trees from 5′ to 10′ tall. Cedar Lake also offers a climbing hay mountain, farm animals, general store, and Santa pictures on the weekends. They are now open up until Dec. 20, with daily hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Find out more on their website here.
Clover, SC – Lutz Christmas Tree Farm
This relatively new tree farm offers customers to cut their own Leyland Cypress trees and also has pre-cut Fraser Fir trees available for purchase. The farm was originally planted by Brian and Jamie Lutz, who planted their first tree in 2006 and Thanksgiving Day 2009, they first opened for business. York, SC – Penland Christmas Tree Farm
The Penland Farm is located at 6457 Campbell Road, York, SC. They also offer choose & cut Virginia Pine trees up to 8′ tall and mountain-grown Fraser Fir trees from 5′ to 10′ tall Virginia. Rock Hill, SC – Hilltop Farms
Hilltop Farms offers one of the widest selection of trees, with varieties of Virginia Pine, White Pine, Eastern Red Cedar, Carolina Sapphire, Leyland Cypress, and Blue Ice. They also sell fresh-cut Fraser fir, balled and burlap trees, baling, tree shaking, stands and homemade wreaths.
