The weekend is finally here!

There will be tons of concerts, shows, baseball, beach parties, and BMX!

Here are the top 10 things happening around the Charlotte region this weekend:

#1 BMX World Championship Opening Ceremonies

For the first time in more than fifteen years, the World Championships are coming to the USA.

Next week, over 3,300 riders from 40+ countries are expected to come to Rock Hill to compete in the 2017 World Championship. They’ll be bringing thousands of other fans, family, and friends across a wide spectrum of cultures spanning the entire globe.

The first official race begins next Tuesday, but this Friday they will be holding the opening ceremonies, featuring; 40+ Food Trucks, Beer & Wine, Live Music from Who’s Bad?, BMX Stunt Show, Bike Safety Event, Kids Zone & Rides.

Friday (July 21st), 6pm-10pm, Fountain Park, Rock Hill (300 E Main St) – Admission is free!

#2 Idina Menzel

With her breakthrough role as Elsa in Disney’s global box office smash Frozen, and singing the multi-platinum Oscar-winning song “Let It Go, she made history as the first person with both a Billboard Top 10 hit and a Tony Award for acting.

She’ll be singing songs from her latest album idina.

#3 Hillsong Young and Free

The world famous Christian band from Australia will be performing live the Oven’s Auditorium this coming Friday starting at 7pm.

#4 Disney’s The Little Mermaid – Live

The Little Mermaid is a stage musical produced by Disney Theatrical, based on the animated 1989 Disney film of the same name and the classic story of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen about a mermaid who dreams of the world above the sea and gives up her voice to find love. Its book is by Doug Wright, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman (written for the film), with additional lyrics by Glenn Slater. Its underwater setting and story about aquatic characters requires unusual technical designs and strategies to create gliding movements for the actors.

Show times will be 7pm this coming Friday and Saturday, 1pm on Saturday, and 12:30pm on Sunday at the Belk Theatre at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

#5 Acoustic Syndicate River Jam

Acoustic Syndicate is a musical institution. Since 1994, their unique blend of bluegrass instruments, rock sensibilities, and conscious songwriting has inspired a generation of musicians. Through 7 albums, thousands of performances, and tens-of-thousands of miles, Acoustic Syndicate has long been heralded as one of the important influences on the modern roots-music revival.

They’ll be taking the stage this coming Saturday night at 7pm.

#6 Queen City Boxing

Live professional boxing has returned to the Queen City .

This fight card will feature #1 US ranked Middleweight prospect and Charlotte’a very own Logan Holler who faces a very tough contender and former WBC Silver female welterweight champion Szilvia Szabados from Hungary , also entering the ring is youth world title champion Makubire Sanginov from Tajikistan and so many more .

#7 7th Annual Chief’s Cup

The Charlotte Police Force will be taking on the Charlotte Fire Department in the 7th Annual Chief’s Cup – Sunday July 23, 2017 at BB&T Ball Park (Home of the Charlotte Knights). All proceeds from the CMPD Blue Hornets VS CFD Blaze baseball game will benefit Levine Children’s Hospital. Come out and enjoy a family friendly night at the ball park in uptown Charlotte. Gates open at 4:00pm with opening ceremonies beginning at 4:30pm and the first pitch is scheduled for 5:00pm. Tickets are only $5.00 and Kids 5 and under are free!

#8 Fox and Hound Beach Bash

This coming Saturday and Sunday, Fox and Hound will be hosting a massive beach party. They’ll have alcohol snocones, a sandcastle building contest, Beer Pong, Karaoke, a DJ and more! Party starts at 11am, events starting around 5pm.
