Thousands are expected to travel to York County today to honor fallen York County Detective Michael R. Doty this morning and afternoon during his procession and funeral.

The procession will start at 11 a.m., with Doty’s casket being transported from Rock Hill’s Greene Funeral Home to the Calvary Church.

The Celebration of Life service is scheduled to take place at noon at the church, located in Charlotte on Pineville-Matthews Road;

Last Tuesday, Detective Doty and three other officers were shot by 47-year-old Christian Thomas McCall after the officers responded to a domestic abuse call in York County. Sgt. Randy Clinton, Sgt. Buddy Brown & Sgt. Kyle Cummings are all progressing in their recovery from minor injuries.

Detective Doty first started working at the York County Sherrif’s office in 2006, as an investigator with the Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit and the Law Enforcement Officer Narcan (LEON) Program coordinator.

“He has done so much work in this community fighting the opioid crisis, and he would be proud,” said York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson.

Please continue to pray for his family and the York County community.
