North Iredell Middle School teacher Christina (aka Chris) Davis Jolly has just been arrested and charged with five felony counts of statutory rape and two felony counts of statutory sex offense with a child.
The charges were filed on Wednesday against the 43-year-old teacher for reportedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy with whom she lived in Statesville, the Statesville Record & Landmark reported.
This past July, Jolly was ordered to stop contacting the boy after neighbors reported an alleged inappropriate relationship to child services. Authorities noted that she gave up custody of the child, but continued to message him on social media.
According to the North Iredell Middle School’s website, Jolly is an 8th-grade language arts teacher. Her most recent curriculum schedule notes that she was teaching her students The Devil’s Arithmetic in her 1st and 2nd periods and Dead Poet’s Society in her 3rd and 4th periods.
Jolly has been suspended with pay from the North Iredell Middle School and was released from prison this past week after posting bail.
Her court date is now set for August 20.
