The Panthers are going to the Playoffs!

Today’s 22-19 win against the Bucs increases the Panthers record to 11-4. The game was certainly hard fought by both teams with some incredibly exciting plays and some major shocks.

One of the biggest scares of the season occurred early in the second quarter when Cam Newton took a hard fall on a red zone run. He limped off the field under his own strength and was quickly replaced by Derek Anderson.

Thankfully, after being checked out by the Panthers’ medical staff, Newton returned a few plays later.

The Panthers took the lead in the second quarter with the longest kickoff return in franchise history by Damiere Byrd – a 103-yard touchdown run;

Both defenses played extremely well for most of the game with 4 sacks and 3 fumble recoveries by the Panthers and 2 sacks and an interception by the Bucs.

Cam Newton led the Panthers in rushing yards with 14 carries for 50 yards. Christian McCaffrey carried the ball 9 times for 39 yards, and Jonathan Stewart had 7 carries with 19 total yards.

The Panthers improve their record to 11-4 on the season and 3-2 in the division – closer than ever to overtaking this season’s NFC South-leading New Orleans Saints.

The Panthers will now be taking on the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday in Atlanta for their last game of the regular season.
