A new high-end Tex-Mex concept just opened in Charlotte this past week, adding a new culinary twist on what’s become a staple food here in the Queen City.

Charlotte’s first Superica was built into the historic Design Center of The Carolinas at 101 W. Worthington Ave. in Charlotte’s South End. It’s the perfect location to transport you back to the old mill-town eateries of southern Texas;

The unique eatery features popular Tex-Mex classics, all with fresh house-made tortillas, such as chicken verde enchiladas, Tacos de Barbacoa with slow-cooked brisket, and Chicken Suizas Enchiladas;

Chef Ford Fry puts his unique qourmet twist on many of the dishes, including jalapeno and cheese stuffed bacon-wrapped shrimp fajitas and a unique seafood cocktail with shrimp, crab, octopus, and avocado, called ‘campechana de mariscos.

We are SO👏READY👏@supericaatl (pronounced SOOP-uh-REE-kah) is officially opening May 21 at 11 a.m.! On the menu you’ll find items like… _ 🍤: Campechana De Mariscos ($16) – aka their version of a seafood cocktail – spicy gulf shrimp, octopus, lump crab, fresh avocado, fiery roasted red tomato salsa, tostadas _ 🍹: La Paloma ($12) – El Jimador Blanco, fresh lime, Squirt soda, salt _ 🍖: Short Rib ($34) – slow braised and chargrilled, chipotle molasses BBQ sauce _ 🍤🍅: Camarones Brochetas ($27) – chili spiced gulf shrimp stuffed with cheese and jalapeños, wrapped in bacon toasted on their wood-fired grill _ 🌮: Puffy Queso Taco ($4) – aka their take on a San Antonio staple – fresh corn puff taco stuffed with meat and topped with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese _ Link in bio for more menu items to get ready for, their hours and more. #CLT5 👋🌮🍹
