One of our region’s most technologically advanced medical companies has just launched in Kannapolis’ N.C. Research Campus.
Klear Optix was founded by Ramazan Benrashid, PhD, an expert in polymer chemistry, and his partner Ali Dahi.
According to their website, “Benrashid is an expert in polymer chemistry who brings years of experience in developing materials for opto-electronic, coating biocompatible polymers and contact lenses. He has worked for the largest companies in the contact lens industry and smaller startups tackling the challenges of “smart lens” technologies.”
Dahi has a similar background, having co-founded the California-based company Synergeyes, which develop and manufactures hybrid contact lens for stigmatism, presbyopia and irregular cornea conditions.
Klear Optix is now on the cutting edge of contact lens technology, attempting to bridge the gap between wearable smart glasses and contact lenses. They are now researching and developing new materials and designs for soft lenses, bandage lenses for healing and intraocular lenses used in cataract surgery.
Benrashid and Dahi are looking ahead to a variety of lens projects that would use new materials and designs in an attempt to bridge the gap between the digital world and the real world.
