A new boutique bakery is coming to Fort Mill’s Main St. next year.
Southern Sugar Café will be a locally-sourced bakery, an espresso bar, and wine bar.
Their breakfast will consist of in house baked goods, including but not limited to pop tarts, scones, and muffins. Breakfast boards, biscuits with homemade jelly flights, and various fruits will also be available for more breakfast options. Offerings around 4pm will feature heavy bite options ranging from charcuterie boards with locally sourced vegetables, fruits, honey, to a deconstructed strawberry shortcake. Southern Sugar will be purchasing most of their inventory from local sources, such as Fort mill strawberries.
Southern Sugar is owned by Courtney Thompson and Chris Thompson. Chris is a Fort Mill native, Chris was born and raised in Fort Mill. While looking for the perfect location, Courtney and Chris decided to pick Main St. as their location for their new café because of the great spot on Main St. in the historic Old Centre Theatre.
“This is my home, I was born and raised in Fort Mill. Courtney and I are thrilled to be a part of this community of people and couldn’t think of a better place to bring this concept. Most of what we will serve is all locally grown. Our deconstructed strawberry shortcake will be made with Fort Mill strawberries…of course! We are looking forward to being a part of people’s lives and giving back to the town that I grew up in.” commented Chris Thompson in a statement.
