The first major pet store to ever hit the Uptown region has just been announced. A 14,000 square-foot Petco is about to be built in the Metropolitan (the complex with Trader Joes, Best Buy, Target, and the new BJs).
The leading pet retailer will be occupying the large space next to the BJ’s Discount Club at 999 Metropolitan Ave., just outside of 277.
The store is now expected to open in the next few months.
Not only will this be a convenient location for pet owners in all the areas around Uptown (NoDa, Plaza Midwood, Dilworth, SouthEnd, etc), it will also be located on The Sugar Creek Greenway – a wildly popular dog walking venue that connects Center City with Freedom Park.
Petco currently operates six other stores throughout the greater Charlotte region.
