Last night, the Charlotte area witnessed a rare and sudden hail storm that brought lightning, strong winds, and driving rain.
The storm caused thousands of dollars in damage and left over 2,600 homes without power this morning.
At the height of the storm, over 32,000 Duke Energy customers were affected, according to the “Duke Energy Outage Map“:
The storm also knocked down dozens of trees and set a home on fire in the Dilworth neighborhood:
