Tomorrow morning, starting at 9am, the Gaston County School district is planning a groundbreaking ceremony for their new $27.5 million middle school.
The new school will expand and upgrade the currently outdated facility at 317 Hovis Road in Stanley. It will be 2 stories and approximately 135,000 square feet, featuring 40 classrooms that will be equipped with the latest teaching technology, including smart-boards and integrated fiber connected internet in every room.
Its expected to open its doors late next year to over 800 students.
The old school will be demolished to make room for new athletic fields, facilities, and stands.
Construction on the new school is not expected to interrupt any of the summer programs, which will continue to run until August 5.
