Mecklenburg County’s 2018 Special Olympics Spring Games Start This Week

More than 1,300 Special Olympics North Carolina athletes will take to the track, diamond, pool and field to compete in a variety of events during Mecklenburg County’s Spring Games, over the next couple weeks in Charlotte.

From swim meets in Huntersville to an Opening Ceremony at Bojangles’ Coliseum to various athletic competitions hosted at Charlotte Country Day School, there are ample opportunities to showcase tales of joy, courage, and empowerment.

The 2018 Spring Games will consist of:

Swim Meet, Thursday, April 12
All ages
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m…………………. Swim Meet
Location: Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics Center, 11725 Verhoeff Dr., Huntersville, NC

Opening Ceremony, Monday April 23
All Athletes
10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Location: Bojangles’ Coliseum, 2700 Independence Blvd.

Tuesday, April 24
Middle School, High School and Adult Athletes
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m Track & Field Competition
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m Softball Skills
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Motor Activities

Wednesday, April 25
Elementary School Athletes
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Track & Field Competition
9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Softball Teams, Softball Skills

9a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Young Athletes Program
