The Mario Andretti Racing Experience pegs itself as the “World’s Fastest Driving Experience”, allowing even novice drivers to reach speeds up to 180 mph. After about an hour of training, they strap you into a full size, open wheel, Indy-style race car and let you go as fast as you want around the Charlotte Motor Speedway – and they even let you pass other drivers.
I’ve driven over 120 mph on a motorcycle and over 130 mph in my old Mitsubishi Eclipse, but I can honestly say that the adrenaline I felt driving at 155 mph in an open-wheeled Indy car was like nothing I’ve ever felt before. Personally, I think it was largely due to the fact that you’re only inches off the ground as you watch the asphalt whiz by at ever increasing speeds.
