Macon Dunnagan might well be the most interesting man in Charlotte.

The native Charlottean is a published writer (author of the book ‘Sons of Kilimanjaro’), an adventurer, a humanitarian, and now an international ambassador. After setting a record for climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro four times in 28 days, he was crowned the ‘Honorary Tanzanian Ambassador of Tourism To The United States’ by the President of Tanzania.

Charlotte Stories had the incredible opportunity to sit down with him at the City Club in Uptown Charlotte to find out more;

Dunnagan is currently planning is 39th climb to the top of Africa’s highest mountain with his new fiance Kim. As an expedition director for Zara Tours he’s always looking for new people to travel with to the beautiful country of Tanzania – especially people from his home city of Charlotte.

He mentioned that one of the biggest benefits of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is the affordability – you can book the entire trip for under $5,000 – compared to well over $50,000 for trying to climb Mt. Everest.

If you’d like to book a trip with him, you can reach out to him on his Twitter profile, LinkedIn account, or here on Facebook.
