A small Charlotte startup that teaches cooking classes has been ranked by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the best Entrepreneurial companies in America.

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen was ranked #270 on this year’s ‘Best 360 Entrepreneurial Companies in America’ list.

Now, #270 might not seem like a very big deal, but considering there are now an estimated 8,751,000 small businesses in America, according to Fortune Magazine, ranking anywhere on Entrepreneur’s top 360 list is a huge deal.

The businesses were identified “based on the results from a comprehensive study of independently-owned companies” across the country, and they were ranked “using balanced scorecard designed to measure metrics reflecting major pillars of entrepreneurship: innovation and technology; management efficiency and business sustainability; and revenue”.

Entrepreneur Magazine describes Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen as a company that “Hosts fun, interactive hands-on cooking classes for adults and kids inside a farmers market using healthy, local and sustainable ingredients.”

Alyssa and Andrew Wilen first started their cooking class company in 2012 in Atherton Mills and they’ve steadily grown their reputation, cooking techniques, and fan base ever since.
