Charlotte Hornets Draft 1st Round Pick Miles Bridges – Hopeful He Will Become Their New Star

The Charlotte Hornets just acquired who they hope will become their new star forward.

Last night they secured Miles Bridges in the first round (12th overall pick) from the LA Clippers, trading the draft rights to guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (11th overall pick) and 2 future 2nd-round draft picks.

The Hornet’s tweeted last night; “OFFICIAL: THE HORNETS HAVE ACQUIRED THE DRAFT RIGHTS TO AND TWO FUTURE SECOND-ROUND PICKS FROM THE IN EXCHANGE FOR THE DRAFT RIGHTS TO SHAI GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER!!! WELCOME TO , MILES!!!”

In a statement, Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak said that Mile’s incredible versatility was the key to his decision.

“He’s one of the highest character players in the draft, very athletic, plays hard, and he’s very versatile,” Kupchak commented. “… There is not much to not like about Miles Bridges.”

The 6’7″, 225lb Bridges was a favorite All-Big 10 first team choice after he averaged 17 points and 7 rebounds per game last season for the Spartans. He ranked 6th in scoring, 11th in rebounding and 4th in free throw percentage (85.3%).

Bridges is expected to replace small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who is considered a strong defender but not a great scorer.

The Hornet’s also selected guard Devonte’ Graham (34th overall pick) and Lithuanian forward Arnoldas Kulboka (55th overall pick) during last night’s 2018 NBA Draft. They traded the Atlanta Hawks 2 second-round draft picks in 2019 and 2023 in exchange for Graham.

What do you think of the Hornet’s decisions last night?
